Overview

We are a dual faculty institution, offering medicine, biomedical sciences and health and social care sciences. We offer a warm and friendly environment in which staff and students really get to know each other. This contributes to the strong support networks that we provide for students. Scientists, students, doctors, nurses, psychologists, midwives, physiotherapists, radiographers, administrators and our hardworking support staff are all important members of the St George's family. We are a member of the federation of world-renowned Colleges that make up the University of London, and we issue University of London degrees. Partnerships Students also benefit from our reputation within the NHS for producing excellent healthcare professionals. On our main campus we share a site with St George's Healthcare NHS Trust, one of the UK's busiest hospitals. We are also very committed to our collaborations with other higher-education institutions, especially our long-term partner Kingston University, and, more recently, Royal Holloway, University of London, the combined strengths of whom help us to deliver the highest standards of healthcare in the UK. Results So, how successful are we at delivering our mission? The recent Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) inspection gave a very positive endorsement of the quality of our programmes, and the robustness of our quality-assurance procedures. As well as having one of the highest student satisfaction rates of any London institution and lowest drop-out rates nationally, the good news continues after graduation, with 99% of our graduates going straight on to employment or further study. Research St George's high-quality education and clinical practice is informed by world-class research activity. The institution is research-intensive, recently winning international recognition for its published papers, ranked as having the second-greatest impact of any HE institution in the country. Our research income as a proportion of our total income is one of the highest in the UK. We have a strong reputation in research into diseases of the heart and circulation; and in the science and clinical practice associated with problems of infection and immunity. Research is also strong in basic medical sciences, particularly cell biology and molecular genetics. Our research continues to be influential in the fields of medical epidemiology and public health.
