Welcome to Newton Prep – an independent, coeducational Nursery and Preparatory School in Battersea, South West London for children aged 3 to 13 years.We are proud of our website but we are prouder still of the reality that is Newton Prep. The internet allows us to convey a comprehensive and truthful but still ‘virtual' impression of the school, but nothing beats a taste of the real thing. No website can fully bring to life the reality of a thriving school community comprising 550 busy, happy children being led and encouraged in their endeavours by over 70 energetic and committed members of the teaching staff.For that reason, prospective parents are encouraged to attend one of the six Open Days we hold each year so that they may experience for themselves Newton Prep's unique atmosphere.Newton Prep is a large school but one that operates very much with the interests of each individual child at heart. High standards of learning and teaching are maintained in a supportive atmosphere in which the pastoral well being of the children, whatever their age, is of paramount importance. In the last five years, Newton Prep has made significant investment in its buildings and educational resources, but its commitment to building strong academic departments, a broad range of extra and co-curricular activities and a supportive pastoral care structure has been even greater.In September 2011, the school enters its 21st year and our coming of age will be marked by the completion of the extensive building and refurbishment programme begun in 2009. New classrooms and an assembly hall for the youngest children, a third gymnasium, changing rooms and a new music school will provide facilities which will be the envy of many preparatory and senior schools both within and outwith London.Do children need to be special to qualify for entrance and to thrive at Newton Prep? Perhaps that question is best answered obliquely. When pupils have prospered in their preparatory school years at Newton Prep, they will have become special and, moreover, fully equipped to face the challenges of their secondary education at some of the country's finest day and boarding schools.
