It is unlike any other university in the United Kingdom. Its work has been shaped for over 165 years by Christian principles but it embraces those of all faiths and none. As one of Britain's smaller universities it values the individual. Care, concern and support for students are always a priority. Widening participation is one of the founding principles of the institution and this philosophy of reaching out to people not traditionally involved in HE continues today. We do not believe that education is just about equipping people for the world of work; we also educate students for the work of the world. We live in a time of change ? social, political and economic. We believe that only students educated within a global context can constructively, fairly and bravely make the changes the world needs. As well as continuing their own research, all Hope professors also teach undergraduates.

We are proud of our rich heritage but we continue to look to the future as we invest in the University. In recent years we have celebrated the opening of the EDEN (Education and Enterprise) building, and the opening of our Health and Sports Science avenue at Hope Park. The Creative Campus goes from strength to strength, with expansion of this campus planned for summer 2018. All of these changes serve to enhance the idea of collegium and community at Liverpool Hope – something that has been at the heart of the University since its beginnings back in 1844.
