High Quality Teaching and Learning We're proud of our teaching and assessing staff. Our teachers and assessors are well qualified and are committed to continuously updating their skills and expertise. We are very fortunate that our teachers and assessors come from successful vocational and academic backgrounds. We strongly believe in active learning, which provides challenge and promotes independent learning skills. You will be regularly assessed on your skills and understanding and receive regular feedback on your progress. Resources and Facilities We recognise the importance of high quality teaching and learning resources and continue to invest in our facilities. These include a new sixth form building, a modern, very well equipped learning resource centre, construction workshops, modern industry-standard hair and beauty salons, multi-media suites, kitchens and restaurant and many more. Just Ask Our student services team can provide counselling and advice on travel, financial help and health matters etc. Top Quality Support All students have access to a personal tutor who will meet with them either on an individual or group basis to discuss their progress, set targets and address any issues or support needs. Our Additional Learning Support Team can help students identify any additional learning support needs and ensure these are promptly met. Enrichment Students are expected to be punctual, to attend regularly and to work hard, but it's not all work and no play. There are plenty of fun activities to join in with, e.g. hair and beauty treatments, visits, fashion show, college radio, Nadfas project, trips, extra-curricular clubs, free use of gymnasium etc. Progression Our students regularly secure places at the UK's leading universities. We also have a very good track record when it comes to students entering employment or progressing to further study. Range of Courses We can offer more courses than any other educational institution on the Isle of Wight, with progression from foundation to degree level. Expert Advice The College prides itself on matching the right qualification to the right student. Every student has a detailed pre-course interview to discuss the course and their future plans and all courses start with an induction programme. If, after the start of the course, it becomes apparent that another subject or level would be more appropriate, it is possible to transfer to a different course. The College has now appointed Catherine Jackson, a highly qualified Careers Advisor who will help and advisor learners on the most appropriate course them to achieve their career aims. Respect College staff treat all learners with respect and in a mature manner. Time and again this is one of the things our learners report as most important to their enjoyment of their time at College. Industry Links The College has close working relationships with a wide range of external organisations and constantly develop links which benefit our students, staff and industry partners. This has provided our students with the relevant experience, skills and expertise for the ever changing workplace.
