Hampton Court House is an independent co-educational school. We currently take children from Nursery (three-and-a-half year olds) to Year 11 (sixteen year olds). Most children who come to Hampton Court House stay on to take GCSEs. At present we are exploring the possibility of opening a small, tutorial style Sixth Form. Those who do wish to move on earlier are fully prepared for the 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance and scholarship examinations of the leading boys' and girls' schools.Hampton Court House is situated in its own private parkland, a 30 to 40 minute drive from Central London or a 35 minute train journey from Waterloo Station.Hampton Court House was founded in 2001. Already we have grown into a school of 200 pupils. So we are a new school and yet a traditional school. The most important thing to us is that children enjoy being here and that they look forward each day to coming to school. We want to lay the foundations of a lifelong love of learning.Words and pictures can only give a very limited idea of what we are about. The best way to get a clearer picture of Hampton Court House is by visiting us and talking to pupils and staff. The school hums with life and laughter.On the one hand, there is a clear focus on traditional, systematic teaching which stretches and stimulates every child: no-concession maths with regular tests, modern languages taught by native speakers, and English lessons where we are not afraid to read great literature or to stress the importance of accurate, controlled expression in both writing and speaking. On the other hand, our children are ‘empowered'. We want to give free rein to their enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity.We believe that children need some (guided) freedom in order to develop their own style with taste and discretion. Pupils and staff have mutual respect for each other. The staff, including the Headmaster, are addressed by their first names, without fuss and with no sense of disrespect. Whilst there is a dress code, there is no uniform.
