Course Description

The MA Photography course is a taught, practice-based programme. Situated within the Fine Art department, the course places an emphasis on innovation, experimentation, and intellectual and practical enquiry. Students are encouraged to actively engage with contemporary photographic art practice through publication, exhibition and participation in live projects. The Photography MA has close links with the other MA programmes within the department as well as local bodies such as Alternative Arts, Photomonth, Four Corners Film and The Photographers Imaging Network, with whom they regularly collaborate. Additionally, students have the opportunity to contribute to the work and development of the newly formed, East End Archive at The Cass, an online digital resource created within the department.The MA Photography is a taught, practice-based programme.
Students benefit from the Cass’ location in the heart of the vibrant visual arts community of London’s East End. This exciting, multi-cultural environment is centrally located and in close proximity to the city’s national art galleries and creative and industry hubs. The School's extensive art and industry networks provide graduates of the course with a substantial advantage and excellent employment prospects.
