Course Description
On this programme you will explore issues in semantic and cognitive externalism, the nature of interpretation, deflationism, the nature of concepts, philosophical issues concerning truth-theoretic semantics, and theories of judgement. You will be taught by a vibrant community of philosophers and linguists, who pursue original research on a wide range of topics giving you expert supervision for your dissertation. You take two core philosophy modules: Research Skills and Methods for MA students Philosophy of Language You also complete some optional modules in philosophy and linguistics from the Department of English or the School of Psychology. You will also complete a 12,000 word dissertation. You are taught by a vibrant community of philosophers and linguists who pursue original research on a wide range of topics on which means you have expert supervision for your dissertation. You will be able to explore issues in the following areas: semantic and cognitive externalism the nature of interpretation deflationism, the nature of concepts, and tacit knowledge philosophical issues concerning truth-theoretic semantics theories of judgement.
