Course Description
THIS COURSE ENABLES PHYSIOTHERAPISTS TO EVALUATE THEIR CLINICAL PRACTICE AND DEVELOP SKILLS TO ADVANCE CLINICAL EFFECTIVENESS. Continuing education at an MSc level enables physiotherapists to grow within a dynamic and evolving profession. Evidence based practice is increasingly important and this MSc course supports individuals in developing the knowledge and skills required. This course will provide an indepth, critical understanding of the relationship between clinical assessment and the evaluation of therapeutic interventions. The MSc encourages you to re-examine your practical skills, professional knowledge and understanding of physiotherapy interventions. The development of your critical and evaluative skills aims to advance your future clinical, academic andor research career. The knowledge and skills developed over the programme are intended to enable you to lead and implement innovative change within physiotherapy workplaces in the UK and internationally. This course attracts physiotherapists from all over the world and advice will be given to assist the process of registration with Health Professions Council (HPC). Programme material will also help the student to develop knowledge and skills recognized by the HPC. The course itself does not automatically give a license to practice in the UK. Structure: You will be required to attend for one calendar year from September and will attend on a weekly basis. Study will comprise of eight compulsory core modules. For the award of MSc you will be required to complete a dissertation. Course Covers: - Research methods - Clinically oriented study blocks which allow the students to apply their learning in a selected area - Practical experience of experimentalevaluative methods - Dissertation Teaching and Assessment: A wide variety of teaching and assessment methods will be used. Requirements for programme awards: For the award of PgDip Physiotherapy (120 M level credits) if you successfully complete: - Research methods - One core double module - Two further double modules For the award of MSc Physiotherapy (180 M level credits) if you successfully complete: - Research methods - Research dissertation Plus - One core double module - Two further double modules Careers: This course will enable you to focus your continuing professional development in relation to clinical physiotherapy practice and physiotherapy research. It is intended to enhance your clinical, research and education career opportunities both in the UK and internationally.
