The programme is designed to prepare students a career as a specialist teacher of Citizenship working in the secondary education sector. This programme aims to extend students' subject knowledge application in Citizenship, to enable them to teach across the 11 to 16 age range. It is for innovative and imaginative people who have an expertise which they wish to share with others. The content focuses on the National Curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4 and the teaching strategies relevant to developing the active involvement of pupils in participatory, effective citizenship. The teaching strategies that you will develop through the citizenship programme will include those broadly applicable to humanities and social science teaching. Subject teaching methodology and application workshops and seminars are delivered in school.
