NPTC CS30 Chainsaw Crosscutting and Maintenance Level: 2 Location: BH Years: 1 Course Summary Current legislation requires those whose work involves the use of chainsaws to be adequately trained and qualified. Those who are employed, and some others, will be required to hold a certificate of competence. Unit CS30 consists of Basic Chainsaw Use, Crosscutting and Maintenance. How will I be assessed? External assessment leading to certification should take place as soon as possible after the training course. You are advised to contact Margaret Scott at Derbyshire Land-based Training and Assessment Committee, Burnwood Farm, Ockbrook, Derby, DE72 3RY or on (01332) 662815 when you know the date of your course. How much time will I spend on the course? 2 days, 9.30-4.45. How is the course delivered? Practical instruction as per NPTC schedule. Who is this course suitable for? Those using a chainsaw in work. What are mandatory modules or units? N/A What materials do I have to provide? You will need all appropriate safety clothing and tools. Safety clothing can be hired for ?25. Saw and tools can be hired for ?25. NB: We are unable to hire out clothing and equipment for the assessment. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? Some people prefer to buy their own specialist clothing, helmets and chainsaw clothing etc. What can I do after this course? Use a chainsaw What careers would this course be useful for?
