Introduction to Roof Thatching Dates: 9 January 2010; 1 day Times: 9.00am - 4.00pm Day: Saturday Location: Dorset Construction and Training Centre, Poundbury, Dorchester Aim of Course To learn the skills required to carry out simple repairs To have a greater understanding of thatching Course Details/Contents This one day course is designed to provide a practical introduction to thatching for those home owners who wish to carry out simple repairs or just to have a greater understanding of thatching. The day will include: Vernacular styles across the UK What is and is not repairable New and Repair thatch projects Selection of materials Practical application Materials/Text Book Requirements Overalls and safety shoes are advisable. All tools and equipment are provided. Study Requirements 1 day. Assessment/Examination Details A College certificate will be issued on satisfactory completion of the course. Fees All fees quoted are for British/ EEA Citizens with settled status who have been resident in an EEA country for the last 3 years or have exceptional circumstances or exceptional leave to remain. If you are in any doubt as to your status please ask for advice on enrolment. Refund of fees will only be paid in the event the College cancel the course, or if you notify the College of your intention to withdraw from the course 2 weeks prior to the start date. You can apply to enrol:- By calling in to the Reception/Information Centre situated in Fleet Building at any time. Times of Opening are: 8.15am-8.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.15am-5pm on Fridays. During half terms, Christmas, Easter and Summer breaks, opening times are 8.30am -5.00pm Monday to Friday. Please note. The running of our courses are dependant upon student numbers therefore please enrol early to avoid disappointment. If insufficient numbers of students enrol on this course it may be subject to cancelleation. In the event of cancellation any fees paid will be refunded in full.
