Biology GCSE Is this course right for me? GCSE Biology covers topics of general interest as well as those needed by prospective scientists. It considers practical applications of biological theory and the social implications of science. What will I be learning? Topics include diet, health, genetics, micro-biology, heart and lungs and the environment. How will I learn? You will have to apply the theory you have learnt to everyday issues and practical situations. Your coursework will be partly based on practical work done in class and partly on research on a specific topic. What else might I want to know? There will be two externally set examinations, each covering three modules. You may be able to take the first exam in January. There is also coursework, most of which has to be completed in class. You could study for a GCSE in Environmental Science alongside this qualification. What can I do afterwards? You could progress to a higher level course such as `A' Levels or a National Diploma.
