Course Description

Course overview The Overseas Nurse Programme is for practising nurses who are registered overseas, but who wish to register as a nurse to work in the UK. The programme aims to support and facilitate recruitment at a time when there is a national shortage of qualified nurses in the UK. Upon successful completion of the programme, you will achieve registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and will be able to practice in the UK. There has never been a more challenging and exciting time to work in health and social care in the UK. The programme is designed to help overseas students meet these challenges. You will be provided with the opportunity to build clinical skills and awareness of the UK Health Service through either a three or six month attachment within a hospital or nursing home setting. You will receive 20 days of protected learning time at City. These study days allow you time to develop theoretical knowledge and provide the opportunity to discuss progress with other students and the programme leader. Students are expected to attend a supervised placement for the duration of the programme.
