Course Description

The MSc in Surgical Technology aims to provide the students with a solid understanding and appreciation of current technology and advances within the surgical technology industry. It is expected that it will stimulate some students to consider how they may work together with engineering and computing departments and other disciplines to bring about innovations in surgery. The course will be of benefit to surgical trainees who wish to enhance their understanding of the technological advances within surgery, endoscopy and interventional medicine or science graduates with career and research interests in surgical technology. Applicants will normally possess a degree in medicine or a minimum of a second-class honours degree in a science degree in a relevant subject. ?For medical graduates, at least one year?s clinical experience is required, preferably with some surgical training. ?For non-medical graduates, at least one year?s experience in an area related to surgery or surgical equipment and technology is required, for example design or manufacture of surgical equipment or design of surgical technical software etc. ?Basic computing experience, access to an off-campus computer and an internet-capable PC
