Course Description
The MSc Subsea Engineering is focused on the planning, construction and delivery of subsea systems designed to facilitate the extraction of hydrocarbons. The course is intended for applicants who have some employment experience in the Oil and Gas Industry, and are seeking to progress, or redirect, their career in the industry by gaining a Masters level qualification in the Subsea Engineering discipline within the industry that is directly relevant to their future career plans. The course is designed to give an initial broad coverage of the industry, followed by specialisation in the specific discipline. Aims of the course The course aims to: ? develop the attributes expected of Subsea Engineering Masters professionals. ? deliver proof of ability to evaluate and synthesize at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) minimum knowledge depth for all specified skills, as specified in the SPE competency matrix for Petroleum Engineers. ? provide a broad-based and sound understanding of the scientific, engineering and management subjects relevant to selected areas of effective subsea engineering. ? develop a critical approach to the implementation of subsea engineering. ? provide a broad-based and sound understanding of the scientific, engineering and management subjects relevant to effective subsea engineering. ? encourage innovative thinking, which is then applied to the discipline of subsea engineering. ? develop initiative, creativity, interpersonal skill and a high level of critical judgement in the application of appropriate and relevant principles during the Masters level project stage. Module Structure The full MSc course consists of 8 modules and a Project as shown below. You can exit with a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or an MSc in Subsea Engineering.
