Course Description
This course allows you to enhance or develop your career prospects by studying production processes with a distinctive focus on creative technologies. It offers the chance to develop a deep understanding of the skills, processes, technologies and principles that underlie the media production chain. You will also gain the practical experience necessary to apply this knowledge effectively in real world environments. Through exposure to advanced concepts in several areas relevant to media production and you will improve your understanding of the capabilities and potential applications of relevant state-of-the-art technologies. You will also gain hands-on experience through practical sessions using different tools with a view to gaining or enhancing your ability to apply advanced concepts. this will allow you to appreciate that technology is not only seen as a tool but also a driver of creativity. You will benefit for the use of multi-million pound Creative Technology Studios, an integrated facility for the acquisition, editing and distribution of video, audio and computer-generated materials. Programme: Strand 1: Research methods and Critical Practice Strand 2: Video Production and Video Post-Production Strand 3: Audio production and Audio Systems Strand 4: Interactive Fused Media and Applications Optional placement We offer a great opportunity to boost your career prospects through an optional one year placement as part of your postgraduate studies. We have a dedicated Placement Unit which will help you obtain this. Once on your placement you will be supported by your Visiting Tutor to ensure that you gain maximum benefit from the experience. Placements begin after the taught component of the course has been completed - usually around June - and last for one year. When you return from your work placement you will begin your dissertation.
