Course Description

MSc Integrated Immunology Nuffield Department of Surgery and Nuffield Department of Medicine ? The University of Oxford is a world leader in Immunology. The Departments leading this new MSc course were ranked 5* in the last RAE. This one-year, full-time course will harness this high-quality expertise, together with that of external experts. ? The course is designed to present Immunology within the broader context of Science and Medicine. Both basic and applied aspects of Immunology will be explored and integrated with key areas of other scientific and clinical disciplines. ? A central aim is to encourage immunological scientists to relate to the clinical interface, and for clinicians to understand the scientific principles underlying this field. It will be of value to those who plan a career in academic or clinical immunology, or in the immuno pharmacological sector. ? The first two terms are a taught course, while the third term is an in-depth research project for the MSc. Those registering for an Oxford DPhil (PhD) or MD may commence directly after the taught course with a Diploma in Integrated Immunology. ? The Course Organisers are Professor Jonathan M Austyn, Professor of Immunobiology, and Dr Helen Chapel, Reader in Clinical Immunology. The course is open to applications to start in October 2005.
