The MSc Finance at Imperial College is one of only nine programmes in the UK to have CFA Institute partner status, giving graduates a strong reputation in the corporate sector for their excellent quantitative and technical skills, as well as with the internationally recognized CFA qualification, as 70 per cent of the CFA qualification body of knowledge is contained in the curriculum. Graduates who wish to become Chartered Accountants can also gain exemption from one specific ACA Professional Stage exam. The MSc Finance curriculum consists of five core courses, three electives and a project. The five corse courses are in Corporate Finance, Mathmatical Techniques in Finance, Statistics and Financial Econometrics, Theory of Finance I and Theory of Finance II. You will then choose three electives from courses such as Portoflio Management, Credit Risk, Advanced Numerical Finance and International Finance. The MSc Finance equips you with a strong foundation in the theoretical underpinnings of finance, and at the same time trains you in the skills employers demand. Graduates successfully leverage the skills and knowledge gained from their degree to embark on careers in their sector of choice - primarily investment banking. Our faculty are international experts in their respective fields, plus they have hands-on experience working for or advising firms. They therefore grasp the subtle interactions between theory and application and are comfortable bringing their experiences of both into the classroom.
