Course Description

The MSc in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy builds on the Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) and focuses on training in research methods and design. This culminates in the completion, under supervision, of a dissertation based on independent research. The course is designed to enhance practice and facilitate employment and career progression in psychology and therapy, research and teaching, the helping or health professions, social work, education, private practice and management roles where working with people is the prime focus. Teaching staff on this course hold postgraduate qualifications in research and have experience of publishing in refereed journals. Teaching groups are small and academic supervision is one-to-one, ensuring there is close contact between tutor and student. The Department of Psychology at the University of Bolton was one of the first to establish a degree course in the subject of psychology and has a wealth of experience in teaching and research in the subject. If you are following the British Psychological Society?s (BPS) Qualification in Counselling Psychology (QCoP) by the independent route, the course may be appropriate as part of the required training.
