Masters Degree , Aerospace Engineering
Course Description
The MSc programme produces graduates with technical and managerial skills and expertise that are highly sought after by the aerospace industry. The first semester covers the theoretical foundations of aerodynamics and propulsion and their implications for aircraft performance and design. Further optional units introduce you to experimental techniques in aerodynamics and the importance of new lightweight composite materials in structural design. The second semester offers a unique learning environment, focusing on your career development as a business manager. Through units delivered in partnership with the School of Management, and industrial design group work, you will gain key skills and experience in commercialising new technology and understanding technology strategy and organisation. You will complete your MSc through an individual research project under the supervision of our eminent research and academic staff. Typical project areas include experimental or computational fluid dynamics, gas turbine-related heat transfer, numerical simulation of structures and practical testing of new materials. By studying for our MSc in Aerospace Engineering you will: * Learn how aerodynamics, control systems, structural limits, thermodynamic efficiency, and performance parameters affect the design of aircraft and aero-propulsive engines. * Develop a range of conceptual designs that satisfy aircraft design specifications within the European Airworthiness regulations. * Gain an appreciation of the present state of research collaboration between the universities, government and the aerospace industry.
