Course Description
The LSE Master of Public Administration (MPA) programmes are innovative, interdisciplinary, two-year degrees jointly run by four academic units across the School: the Department of Government the Department of Economics the Development Studies Institute (DESTIN) and the European Institute. In the first year students undertake intense academic training in political science, economics and quantitative methods, developing the skills required for in-depth political and economic analysis. These skills are given practical application in the second year Capstone project: an intense group-work consultancy exercise in which students advise a major national or international, public or private sector organisation on a current policy challenge. Each MPA stream also offers further specialist training, a wide range of option courses, and the opportunity to prepare a policy-oriented dissertation. The MPA in Public and Economic Policy focuses on the economic and political analysis of public policies. The MPA?s core training in political and economic analysis in the first year is reinforced through a compulsory course in economic policy analysis in the second year. This MPA is particularly suitable for careers related to economic policy making in international organisations, national administrations, and economic consulting.
