Course Description

The MCh Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery aims to meet the personal, professional and educational requirements of Surgeons continuing their professional development within the clinical field of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery. It will enable students to develop their knowledge, extend and advance their clinical practice in order to achieve breadth and depth to their clinical competence. This course is endorsed by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Within the module content there is a strong emphasis on research and evidence-based practice of this development in clinical practice. Furthermore, innovation, research and creativity will be fostered in order to enable students to evaluate and influence practice. Thus improving service delivery and effect change. In addition, the pathway aims to critically evaluate the relationship between evidence based medicine and professional development necessary for lifelong learning. Critical enquiry will be built on inter-professional learning platforms to enable students to actively contribute to the emerging body of underpinning evidence within professional practice. Clinicians will be required to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public, by establishing and maintaining high standards for the education, examination and certification of plastic surgeons in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
