Course Description
London Met’s online Master of Business Administration (Top-up) (MBA) course is for those who have already acquired a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership (or equivalent) from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) or equivalent and also have a minimum of two years’ proven management work experience. The programme is designed to enhance your learning with support from a team of experienced academic tutors, and it is accessible from anywhere in the world.
The MBA (Top-up) is a distance learning course that allows greater flexibility for learning. Teaching and project supervision take place online via Skype, email and telephone with a dedicated team of London Met academic staff.
You'll develop both theoretical and practical knowledge through two key modules. This will improve your analytical skills and give you more confidence when communicating complex ideas and business analysis.
We’ll also teach you the necessary leadership and strategic management skills to design, plan, organise and deliver an individual research report at a professional standard.
Course Content
The modules listed below are for the academic year 2019/20 and represent the course modules at this time. Modules and module details (including, but not limited to, location and time) are subject to change over time.
Year 1 modules include:
Business Research Project (core, 40 credits)
Management Learning and Research (core, 20 credits)
Entry Requirements
You will be required to have:
- a good bachelor’s degree (2.2) in any subject or equivalent
- a recognised Level 7 award that is equivalent to 120 credits in Leadership and Management, which maps closely with the content of the London Met MBA – because of the wide variety of qualifications this covers, each individual application will be reviewed for suitability by the course team
- a minimum of two years' management experience, which is supported by employer references
You will also need to indicate your proposed research topic in the personal statement on your application.
Because this is a distance learning course, you will be able to complete the course from your own country of residence.
To study a degree at London Met, you must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. If you require a Tier 4 student visa you may need to provide the results of a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as Academic IELTS. For more information about English qualifications please see our English language requirements.
If you need (or wish) to improve your English before starting your degree, the University offers a Pre-sessional Academic English course to help you build your confidence and reach the level of English you require.
Assessment Methods
The course is assessed through a 5,000-word research proposal and a business consultancy project report of 8,000 to 10,000 words.
