Course Description

Our Masters in Chiropractic (MChiro) brings together academic, practical and clinical components to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to become a practising chiropractor.

The Masters in Chiropractic (MChiro) is awarded by BPP University.

The McTimoney College of Chiropractic is owned, managed and operated by BPP University. All learners are learners of the University, programmes are internally approved by the University and graduates are awarded a degree of the University.  The Masters in Chiropractic is externally recognised by the General Chiropractic Council.

Students will learn the art, science and philosophy of chiropractic, preparing them for the chiropractic profession with a recognised degree. Chiropractors need to perform well in a clinical environment and we are able to combine the academic excellence of a university with the real-life focus of a professional environment.

There are two routes available to you: the four-year option follows an intensive academic route, perfect for students coming straight from college or A-Levels. The five-year option has an element of flexibility and is best suited to those who plan to work while studying or are considering a career change.

Entry Requirements

A Level  

Minimum of CCC in 3 subjects 

To include 2 science subjects: Biology plus any other science including Chemistry, Psychology, Physical Education, Mathematics or Physics.

Access to HE Diploma 

45 credits at level 3 with a merit profile or above.

We accept a range of related pathways including Access to Human Health Sciences, Access to Science, Access to Medicine or Access to Nursing.

BTEC Extended Diploma    Minimum of Merit Merit Merit (MMM) in a related pathway, including:

  • BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science (Medical Science) 
  • BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science 
  • BTEC Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care 

Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers  

BCCCC minimum to include 2 science subjects one of which must be Biology at grade B or higher.

International Baccalaureate Diploma    

Minimum of 26 points overall with Higher Level grades no less than 5 to include 2 science subjects one of which must be Biology 

Other    

We will consider applicants who possess:

A recognised and equivalent vocational, industry or professional qualification and/or experience.

To apply following the Accredited Prior Experience and Learning (APEL) procedure.

Excluded subjects: General Studies

GCSE    

Minimum 5 GCSEs at grade C or above which must include English and Mathematics.

For reformed GCSEs we accept a minimum of grade 4.

If English is not your first language  

If English is not your first language and you do not hold an honours degree that was delivered in English, you will be required to provide certified proof of ability in written and spoken English to, at least, IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component).

Entry test  

We reserve the right to ask you to sit an entrance exam.

Interviews

  • No offers are made without interview.  Candidates will be selected to progress to interview based on the qualifications, work experience, personal statement and reference provided in their application.  Interviews take place throughout the year.
  • Applicants called for interview are assessed by a panel for their sense of vocation, motivation and qualities of determination and aspiration.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

  • All students will have to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in order to be fully registered on the programme for which a charge will apply.  All offers made will therefore include a condition relating to a satisfactory criminal record check.  We also consider it important that an applicant’s values and attitudes are aligned to those reasonably expected of the Chiropractic Profession.  Further information can be found by following the link.
