Course Description
Entry Requirements: ? Either a first degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualificationsexperience. Introduction to the course True creative spirit is born out of a radical review of the design process. Consequently you?ll be encouraged to be critical and enquiring throughout the course. The programme addresses many topical issues in spatial design there is a blend of design theory and practice, combined with critical thinking within the creative and managerial process. This questions the existing boundaries of interior design ? pushing the profession forwards into new and versatile directions. Your learning experience The taught modules will extend your skills and practice of interior and spatial design, whilst encouraging you to push the creative boundaries of the subject itself. These modules aim to develop your awareness of the effects of the changing creative industry on design thought, processes, and business ? introducing you to new design methodologies as part of the process. You?ll also develop research methodologies and learn to question accepted notions of professional practice, whilst developing key skills relevant to Master?s study. The final Master?s study is undertaken via a combination of a dissertation and design practice. You are provided with your own studio to work in as well as access to computer suites which contain the latest industry standard software. In addition to this you?ll have the opportunity to regularly exhibit locally and nationally, and you?ll benefit from the course?s strong links with a variety of well known companies, including Jaguar, Daimler, Heritage Trust and Marks & Spencer. Career prospects Graduates go on to careers as designers in interior or architectural practices, set designers, exhibition designers, design researchers, and education.
