Richmond, The American International University in London

Masters Degree , Public Relations

Course Description

If you’re fascinated by the fast-paced worlds of PR and Journalism and would like to learn more, this MA programme is for you. It combines the art of journalism – spotting a story, researching and writing – with the core skills of public relations, engaging diverse audiences and opening up exciting international career opportunities.

You’ll have a distinct advantage, being able to study one programme and gain two degrees, from the US and the UK. The programme benefits from exceptionally strong links within the PR and communication industries in London, with teaching by experts in the field, a wide range of distinguished guest speakers, and events involving both industries. This programme is taught at our Kensington campus in central London, which is one of the global hubs of the PR and media industries and the perfect place to study and work.

Through our partnership with them, you’ll also have membership of The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) – Europe’s largest and most influential PR and communications membership body – enabling you to attend free networking events and participate in additional online learning.

With a strong emphasis on the practical elements of both PR and journalism, this programme will enable students to develop and present their own copies of professional work. The practical aspect of the course will culminate in an optional accredited internship and mandatory professional research project.

You’ll be gaining real life PR and journalism experience, responding to real briefs, bringing the programme alive. You’ll be asked to analyse and reflect upon this experience, to ensure you’ve answered the brief in the most effective way.
