You will take part in an acting for camera project, you will rehearse and perform in an industry showcase, you will rehearse and perform in a public production and you will take part in professional practice seminars and workshops.
Term One
The first term focuses on the core technique of living truthfully under imaginary circumstances. Improvisation classes, Meisner and Viewpoints training, applied to a core Stanislavskian process forms the bedrock of this work.
Term Two
In the second term, you will maintain and build on your body and voice work.
The first half of the term focuses on Shakespeare and Elizabethan & Jacobean text in which you develop your process in relation to verse and heightened language working with ‘high stakes’ circumstances. You will become confident in your approach to this language and discover how to respond truthfully and authentically within this very different type of textual ‘score’. Alongside this you will explore working with Meyerhold’s system of Actor’s Biomechanics where a specific physical score, created through working with a text, enables the actor to discover a deeper emotional and psychological spontaneity.
Term Three
You will continue your physical and voice skills classes throughout this term as well as continuing your sessions in professional preparation.
In the first half of the term you receive a thorough and comprehensive training in the techniques appropriate for Acting for Camera. Using state of the art equipment, you will learn the most effective ways to apply your process to screen work. Through Masterclass workshops and practical scene work, where you can analyse your process directly through viewing your work on screen, you will develop a confidence and practical knowledge of how to work on a professional TV or Film set.
