Course Description
AS FURTHER MATHS Further mathematics is designed to let you study a wide range of options in pure mathematics, mechanics, statistics, and decision mathematics. You will focus on solving problems and how certain methods can be applied in areas of engineering and computing. As it is an advanced level of study you need to be very interested in mathematics to consider taking this subject. **(this course must be studied alongside AS Maths) Length of Course One year AS / two year AGCE What qualifications do I need to study on the course? Five grade C's or above at GCSE including a grade A in Higher level Maths GCSE. You must also be taking AS Maths to study AS Further Maths. What will I study? This is an excellent course to take for all future career intentions as you will be required to use logical thought and precise working. You will study three modules that build on the maths that you studied at GCSE. Method of assessment You will sit three exams in each year - one in January and two in June. What will I be able to progress to? AGCE Further Mathematics fits well with almost any combination of subjects and offers wide progression opportunities to university or careers. If you are considering a degree in mathematics, physics, engineering or computing at a highly competitive university you are strongly advised to study further mathematics to at least AS-level.
