Installing Woody Biomass Boilers & Stoves (BPEC) What you will study This course enables you to select the most appropriate woody biomass system for a building based on consultation with the client about their needs and demands, to install the common types of woody biomass heating systems in the UK in a safe and professional manner, and to maintain and service the common types of woody biomass heating systems. The training course and manual will take you through the following areas: - Biomass Heating Systems: Technical Overview - Chimney requirements - Conducting a site assessment - Determining system sizes - Fuel Characteristics, Supply and Combustion - Fuel storage systems - Health & Safety and Fire prevention - Hydraulic systems - Introduction to woody biomass heating and its context within the renewable energy centre - Installation of woody biomass systems - Operation and Maintenance - System costs, funding and government policy - System commissioning and handover to client - Regulations and Standards Who the course is for The course is targeting candidates who have a number of years?? experience in plumbing or conventional heating engineering. How you will study The course is delivered in the College?? s ??-Renewable Energy and Sustainability Centre for Wales (RESCW) based at Rhos-on-Sea. The RESCW centre houses indoor rigs and equipment to help candidates experience the technologies first hand. An experienced lecturer will take you through the course material giving you the chance to ask questions throughout and gain valuable knowledge in the modules above. How you will be assessed Completion of a written assessment. Qualification Title Installing Woody Biomass Boilers & Stoves - Accredited by BPEC Course Length Four days. Course Availability The course is available at the following campus(es): Rhos-on-Sea Entry Guidelines Professional experience or a formal qualification such as NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or Heating Engineering and hold a pre-requisite HETAS 3 day Heating Engineers Certificate.
