Course Description

Health and Social Care NVQ Level 3 Overview The course runs for approximately 9 months and is a part time course for people working with adults in care establishments or supporting adults to live within the community. This course is accredited and certificated with national awarding bodies and is gained in the workplace. At this level you will need to show that you can apply a range of skills and understanding to your work practice whilst working independently. You may also supervise andor train others. Achieving this qualification will confirm your competency in your job, delivering care skilfully and showing you know and understand why it is to be carried out in this way. You will be allocated an assessor who will observe you carrying out your normal work activities in your working environment, assessed against the requirements of the 8 units for your qualification. There may be some activities that your assessor may not be able to observe you carrying out such as dealing with health emergencies. Alternative methods of evidence could be reflective accounts or witness statements for these occasions. Description The course contains 4 mandatory units that you have to do which are listed below and then you choose 4 optional units relating to your job role. Unit 1= Unit 31 Promote effective communication for and about individuals Unit 2= Unit 32 Promote monitor and maintain health, safety and security in working environment. Unit 3 = Unit 33 Reflect on and develop your practice Unit 4= Unit 35 Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals. Unit 5= optional [relevant to the job role] Unit 6= optional [relevant to the job role] Unit 7= optional [relevant to the job role] Unit 8= optional [relevant to the job role] How will I be assessed? You are required to attend a minimum of 4 workshops to help you understand the assessment process. Observation held in the working environment. Reflective account. Witness statement. Questions and answers What does the course lead to? The course supports progression onto other courses including: N.V.Q Health and Social Care Level 4 Registered Manager Award Care related short courses.
