NVQ 2 Beauty Therapy What you will study If you're looking to work in the beauty industry then this one year full-time course will develop your understanding of Beauty Therapy. The practical techniques covered on this course are all underpinned by specifically related theory. This includes National and industry health & safety regulations, methods of sterilisation and the prevention of cross-contamination, biology of the skin, bones, muscles and blood, and much more. You should be prepared for a substantial amount of coursework and home study. - Facial massage and skincare - Health & safety - Key skills - Lash & brow treatments - Manicure - Make-up techniques - Nail art (option) - Pedicure - Promote products & services - Wax depilation - Work experience Who the course is for This full time course is designed to equip you with the skills and qualifications required for entry into the beauty therapy industry. The course will also provide you with progression route to NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy or related studies. How you will study Delivery methods include demonstrations, lectures, group work, role play and visiting speakers. How you will be assessed The course is assessed continuously using a variety of methods. These include written assignments, case studies, practical assessments in the 'Realistic Work Environment', and externally set end tests. To gain the qualification you must successfully complete all of the units and produce a portfolio of evidence. Realistic Work Environment (RWE) is built into the programme where training is carried out in the College's well equipped Beauty Salons. Qualification Title VTCT Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2. Key skills in Communication, Application of Number and IT. Course Length One year full-time. Course Availability The course is available at the following campus(es): Rhos-on-Sea Abergele Entry Guidelines You will need two GCSEs at Grade C or above and preference will be given if you have Grade C or above in both English and Science. This may not be necessary for those with experience. Personal attributes necessary are reliability, a caring personality, physical good health, enthusiasm, calm, even temperament and a well-groomed appearance. On course costs of approximately ?350 will be incurred to purchase equipment, kit, uniform and books. If optional units are also taken, these will cost extra. Your Options After the Course Once you've completed the course you could move onto thee NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy. You could also move into employment or apply for a range of related part-time study options such as Indian Head massage, Body Massage and Relexology.
