Health, Social & Child Care Foundation Certificate in Health Sciences - 3 days Course Description The Foundation Year provides an opportunity for people who want to study at university but do not have the required entry qualifications. You may have studied the wrong subjects at school or, perhaps, you have taken a job after leaving school but now wish to continue with your education. Foundation studies are flexible and allow learners to become familiar with the organisation and demands of university life. They allow you to prepare for a specific degree or to tailor what you study to your own interests and career aspirations. At the beginning of the Foundation Year, you will be attached to the BSc Human Biology within the School of Applied Sciences, University of Glamorgan and throughout the year you will be regarded as studying on YEAR 0 of a 4-year degree. However, following this first year, transfer to Adult Nursing or Midwifery (after meeting certain criteria and a successful interview) is an option. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU MAKE THIS CLEAR WHEN APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT The Foundation Year will provide an ideal pathway into higher education for many of the learners that wish to study at Neath Port Talbot College. Requirement The Foundation Studies programme has been designed to provide appropriate foundation courses for learners who wish to study at university but do not have the required qualifications for Level 1 entry. Each student is considered on an individual basis. A wide range of prior experience is taken into account. Evidence of proficiency in both literacy and numeracy is required. Applications from mature learners are considered on individual merit. A traditional undergraduate applicant, a student between 18-21, should have been educated to A level standard or equivalent.
