Course Description
Flybe Aeronautical Engineering Level: Level 3 - BTEC National Diploma Full-time How long is the course/training? This is a four-year training programme. What will I be doing on the course/training? During the programme, you will study towards a new framework of industry recognised qualifications and, on successful completion, will become a licensed Aircraft Engineer, earning a minimum of ?30k. Unlike most apprenticeships where students spend most of their time training in the workplace with one day a week at college, the new apprenticeship offers full-time study at college for two years before gaining on-the-job training in a real airline environment at Flybe's headquarters at Exeter International Airport. The framework of qualifications includes a BTEC National Diploma in Aerospace Engineering and an NVQ 2 in Performance Engineering Operations which assesses and records all the practical skills which are obtained in the workshop. In addition; in order to gain an Aircraft Type Licence you will also complete your part 66 modular training and examinations. Course/Training Code: To be confirmed Where do I study/train? Centre for Creative Industries, Victoria Yard for the first two years. In years 3 and 4 you will move to on job training at Flybe in the hangar and training facilities, although some time will still be spent completing your studies at Exeter College. What are the entry requirements? You need at least five GCSE C grades with a minimum of grade B in Maths, English and Double Science or Physics. You will also need a passion for learning and a keen interest in a hands-on engineering career in a modern and progressive airline. You will initially be interviewed at the College and if successful, by the Flybe Engineering and Training department. What can I do after this course/training? Progress to full time employment with Flybe as a licensed engineer. What key skills will I do? You will do key skills in IT at level 2. What residential/work experience is there? What will the course/training cost me? This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are resident in the UK and the European Economic Area for the last 3 years.
