Course Description
Architecture, Civil Engineering and Surveying National Diploma 1 Year Programme Follow on programme from National Award Introduction A BTEC National Diploma is a practical, work-related course. This course is for those interested in a career in professional design, administration or the supervisory side of the building industry, including civil engineering, architecture, surveying, estate management, quantity surveying and building surveying. A BTEC National Diploma qualification is directly equivalent to three A Levels and offers a good opportunity for progression to University, Higher Education or employment. Entry Requirements What will I study? The course is made up of 9 units: Building Regulations Building Service Building Surveying Design Procedures ICT and CAD Measuring, Tendering, Estimating Planning Procedures Setting Out Processes Topographical Surveying In Addition A stand-alone Computer Aided Design (CAD) level 3 qualification will be additional to the course as it is considered to be very important for progression into industry. How will I be assessed? Assessment is continuous throughout the course via set assignments. Career Prospects This course will enable you to progress on to an HNC/HND or on to degree programmes in related topics: Architectural Design Civil Engineering Construction Management Building Surveying Quantity Surveying Alternatively you may wish to seek employment in: Architecture, Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors, Contract Managers, Estate Management, Site Engineering, and Building Control. Materials and Text Books You will be advised to purchase a textbook for the course. Essential drawing equipment can be purchased through the college at a substantial discount. Fees Under 19 as at 31st August - Free Over 19 as at 31st August and enrolling on a full programme of study- 470 or 430 if paid in full at the time of enrolment. Fees for studying any individual subject as a day student available on request. If you are in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit, or you are an unwaged dependant thereof, the fee is reduced to 100. No further reduction is available on this reduced fee. All fees quoted are for British/ EEA Citizens with settled status who have been resident in an EEA country for the last 3 years or have exceptional circumstances or exceptional leave to remain.
