Course Description
Our MSc Finance programme is designed for students looking for a mainstream taught MSc in the subject, with a view either to pursuing a career in the financial sector or to continuing on to doctoral research in finance. The aim of the degree is to develop students? knowledge and understanding of academic finance and of the financial sector, including theory, empirical research and practical issues. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE & CONTENT The programme looks at theory and practice across the spectrum of finance including Financial Markets, Corporate Finance and also Research in Finance. Students can also take optional courses in other key finance subjects such as portfolio theory and financial reporting. SEMESTER 1 Corporate Finance Corporate Governance Financial Analysis Financial Marketing SEMESTER 2 Derivatives Research in Finance Research Methods PLUS one from: Comparative Financial Reporting Emerging Financial MarketsInternational Managerial Accounting or Modern Portfolio Theory. Students who successfully complete these taught courses go on over the summer months to undertake their disseration.
