The course aims to produce excellent nurses, who are fit for practice and able to meet the key needs of all patient groups. Students will experience an integrated academic and professional training environment structured to enable you to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue and sustain a career in contemporary nursing practice.

During the initial stages of the course, you will be given more direction and assistance to help you move from being a learner who is dependent, to an autonomous, increasingly reflective and critical individual as your knowledge develops. 

There is an expectation that, as you progress with your studies, you will become independent and self-directed, taking increasing responsibility for your own learning and professional development.

UCAS

• 120 minimum tariff points required for this course

A-Level

• BBB or equivalent. A minimum of 2 A-Levels
• BTEC Extended Diploma or OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical
• DDM. Health and Social Care or Science only will be considered
• Access to HE Diploma
• All Level 3 credits must be at Distinction level. Nursing, science or health-related pathway only will be considered (to include study of Physiology and Biology)
• International Baccalaureate Diploma
• 30 points, Higher Level grades minimum of 5, 5, 5

Other

We will consider applicants who possess:

• A recognised and equivalent vocational, industry or professional qualification
• A recognised and equivalent qualification (examinations and experience) and apply following the Accredited Prior Learning procedure (APL), learners must have 12 months minimum, 18 months maximum APL

GCSE

• Five GCSEs at grade C or above which must include English, mathematics and a science. We do not accept Level 2 equivalent qualifications e.g. BTECs or Key Skills. For reformed GCSEs we accept a minimum of grade 4 in English language and mathematics

• All students will need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check upon acceptance of our offer of a place

Health check

• All offers will be conditional upon a satisfactory Occupational Health clearance

English language requirements

• IELTS 7.0 (with a minimum of 7.0 in each element)

The degree consists of four practice learning experiences ensuring that you to maximise your learning opportunities. Practice learning will facilitate the acquisition of skills required to achieve competence within the adult nursing field of practice.

Ensuring equal weighting for learning in practice and academic theory in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) guidelines. There are four mandatory practice learning modules, one in year one, two in year two and one in year three, equating to 50% of the credit each year.
