Course Description
Accompanying this growth is the commensurate demand for construction management, with professional input required at all stages of building work – from concept to detailed design, construction and maintenance. This course, which is currently accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), aims to prepare you to work towards chartered status and roles in construction management wherever in the world you choose.
Ranked 4th in the UK for Building and Town and Country Planning in the Guardian University Guide 2020, Coventry University has been educating construction professionals for over half a century, keeping in step with the changing needs of technological advancement and the growing importance of its social and environmental. Overview
In this course you will be introduced to the fundamental topics of resource management, economics, design and production processes, which are essential to practitioners in all construction professions. You will be taught alongside architectural technology, building surveying, quantity surveying and commercial management students, providing you with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the professional duties of a construction manager working in a multi-disciplinary team setting to emulate industry practices.

- Year two
Overview
The second year is where you explore the construction management professions in more detail and move from traditional industry practices into the more modern practices associated with building and infrastructure production today, including building information modelling, virtual reality and other advancing technologies. You will expand on the knowledge from Year 1 and discover new ways of working in a multi-disciplinary team in Group Project 2, which will also get you prepared for your industry placement year in year 3.

Overview
The third year in a sandwich programme allows you to apply the theory from years 1 and 2, in a professional industrial placement setting either at home or abroad. This optional placement year can provide valuable context to assist in final year completion as well as enhancing CVs to enable smoother progression into industry on completion of the final year.

In your final year, you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of contract management, including procurement methods, tendering procedures, the contractual relationship among project participants and an awareness of all of the main standard forms of contract available in the UK construction industry.
We also focus on post-contract management practices and procedures, including construction finance. You will have the chance to gain a solid understanding of basic accounting and financial principles, preparing you to apply spreadsheet techniques to analyse financial problems and better understand financial and cost control issues from a corporate management perspective.
You have the opportunity to apply your knowledge to a ‘real-life’ project that will reflect the skills required in professional practice. Past students have used a variety of actual projects both in Coventry and further afield to apply their learning. You will also be expected to perform a detailed research study with the help of an experienced supervisor. You can choose a topic to suit your interests or to assist your career aspirations, with previous dissertation topics covering the use of drones in construction, the use of mobile technology to monitor construction work, and the effects of the planning software on project success.

Entry Requirements
A Level :- BBB-BBC. Excludes General Studies.
BTEC :- DDM-DMM.
IB Diploma :- 30 points.
GCSE requirement :- 5 GCSEs at grade 4 / C or above to include English and Mathematics.
A-Levels
A-Level applicants are required to have three? A2 Levels. Coventry University may include AS grades within an offer for certain courses, but we are not able to accept two AS Levels in place of one A2 Level. In some courses it may be necessary for entrants to have passed specific A2 Levels in nominated subjects. Please see the course pages for more information.
Access Diplomas
The Access to HE Diploma to include 30 Level 3 credits at Merit in Mathematics or Physical Science units. Plus GCSE English and Mathematics at grade 4 / C or above.
Coventry University welcomes applicants who have completed, or who are studying, the Access to HE Diploma developed by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). Successful completion of the course will require you to gain 60 credits with at least 45 to be achieved at Level 3 (with the remainder at Level 2). In some cases we will require you to have gained Merit or Distinction grades in a number of units or in nominated subjects. BTEC Level 3 Diplomas
The University will accept the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma for entry to most courses. In some cases we will require applicants to have studied either certain named modules or a specific named Diploma. The appropriate course page will have full information on the entry requirements. The University also accepts the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma and BTEC Level 3 Diploma for entry to degree programmes, provided that they are studied in combination with other qualifications that provide a total volume of study that is equivalent to three A2 Levels. For example, you could be studying a BTEC Level 3 Diploma plus an A2 Level, or a BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma plus two A2 Levels. Where a specific A2 or BTEC subject is required for entry then you must be offering this as part of your combination of qualifications.
