Course Description

The Masters programme in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at York St John University aims to improve your understanding of recent theory in English language teaching, as well as providing you with the practical skills you need to teach successfully. Many of the modules involve the collection and analysis of data from students and teachers at the York St John International Centre. We aim to help you develop your research skills and encourage you to present and publish your findings to the English language teaching community. The programme is designed for both experienced and intending teachers of English and attracts both home and international students from a range of different countries. Together, we share our experience of learning and teaching English, comparing our experience with research in our academic field, and learn to reflect on and plan for effective teaching in a wide variety of contexts. Our students tell us that the York St John University MA TESOL is a challenging and useful experience. I look forward to welcoming you onto our programme in the near future.
