Course Description

We have designed this flexible, intensive bridging course for HR professionals who have considerable experience but who do not meet the normal entry qualifications for postgraduate study. Successful completion guarantees you entry onto our PGDip or MA Human Resource Management courses which are at the M level professional standards of the Chartered Institute of Professional Development. The course is designed so that you can enter the September intake of one of our M level (PGDipMA) courses. There is a four-week gap between the two modules. After each module you will need to complete coursework assessment in your own time. Progression The advanced diploma is designed so that you complete it in time to progress to a PGDipMA intake in September (or January). You will be eligible to enrol for one of the following CIPD-accredited Middlesex postgraduate programmes: PGCertPGDipMA Human Resource Management + optional pathways in Employment Law, Employement Relations, Human Resource Development PGDipMA International Human Resource Management Assessment Presentation During the first block week you will make a short presentation outlining the nature of the research you will be undertaking for the second part of the assessment (worth 20% of your mark for this module). Business Report You will need to research an organisational problem and provide a 3000-word report. You will submit this at the start of the second teaching week (worth 80% of your mark for this module). Examination A two-hour exam consisting of answering questions on a case study. Modules Compulsory Business and HR Environmental Analysis (30 Credits) This module aims to develop knowledge of the business and the HR environments in order to operate both in the organisational context and make the transition to postgraduate study in the area of Human Resource Management. In doing so it will provide students with the necessary skills to achieve this. Compulsory Personal and Professional Effectiveness (30 Credits) This module aims to evaluate and develop the personal and professional skills needed to progress into postgraduate study. In doing so it will equip students with the skills and competencies required to develop their own learning and become a reflective practitioner.
