Course Description
What you will study You will be introduced to a variety of experiences involving a range of media, processes and techniques. Workshop style sessions will give practical knowledge and experience through tutor demonstrations and production of samples. You will explore images, artefacts and resources relating to a range of art, craft and design, from the past and from recent times. Visits to local galleries will also be encouraged. You will explore drawing using a variety of methods and media on a variety of scales. You will work in one or more areas of Art, such as painting, drawing and mixed media, including collage and assemblage. You may explore overlapping areas and combinations of areas. Your Course Structure Classroom: 20%; Practical: 80% How you will learn The course is based on practical working methods including the use of sketchbooks, worksheets and journals. Sessions are project based and art work is produced initially in an experimental way, showing research into a related topic, development work through drawings and designs, samples in relevant area, then a final outcome. You will use a selection media to explore tone, form, colour and texture.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade A*-C including English Language, Maths and an art or design related subject. You will also need to provide evidence of relevant portfolio work.
